Fire TV Stick / Cube

Time: 10–15 min Player: sideloaded via the Downloader app Level: Intermediate

The Amazon Appstore has very few usable third-party streaming players. The cleanest solution on Fire TV is to install the free Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore, then use a short numeric code to pull down the streaming player of your choice.

Heads up: the newest Fire TV Stick 4K Select and any device running Vega OS do not support sideloading — they are not Android-based. These steps only work on Fire OS (Android-based) devices such as the Fire TV Stick Lite, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K Max, and Fire TV Cube.

What you'll need

  • A Fire TV Stick / Cube running Fire OS (not Vega OS).
  • An active TwinsVision subscription or 24-hour trial.
  • Your streaming credentials (Server URL, Username, Password) — shown on your client portal dashboard. These are different from your TwinsVision account login.
  • A remote with a working keyboard/on-screen input.

Recommended players

Any of the following compatible players can be installed via Downloader. You only need one. Ask us in live chat if you are unsure which suits your setup best.

  • TODO — Player A — Downloader code: TODO-CODE-A
  • TODO — Player B — Downloader code: TODO-CODE-B
  • TODO — Player C — Downloader code: TODO-CODE-C

Step-by-step installation

1

Install the Downloader app

From the Fire TV home screen, select the search icon (magnifying glass) at the top and type Downloader. Select the orange Downloader app by AFTVnews and choose Get / Download to install it (it's free).

4

Open Downloader and grant permission

Open Downloader. On first launch it will ask for permission to access files — choose Allow. If a tips popup appears, dismiss it.

5

Enter the player's Downloader code

In the URL / code field at the top, enter the 7-digit Downloader code of the player you chose from the list above (for example TODO-CODE-A), then press GO.

6

Download and install the APK

Wait for the download to finish. When prompted, select Install. Once the install completes, choose Done — then Delete the APK file when Downloader asks (you don't need it after install; this saves space).

7

Open the player and add your playlist

Press Home. Scroll down to Your Apps & Channels and open the newly-installed player. On first launch it will ask how you want to add your subscription — choose the XC login option (sometimes shown as Xtream Codes inside the player).

8

Enter your streaming credentials

Fill the fields using the details shown on your client portal dashboard:

  • Name: TwinsVision (any label you like)
  • Server URL: the Server URL shown on your dashboard
  • Username: the Username shown on your dashboard
  • Password: the Password shown on your dashboard

Letters are case-sensitive — make sure the capitals match. Again, these are not your TwinsVision account login (email + password).

9

Save and start watching

Confirm / Save. The player will download the channel list and TV guide. The first load takes 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. Once done, browse Live TV, Movies, and Series and pick something to watch.

Frequently asked questions

Downloader says "Install Unknown Apps is off".
Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options → Install Unknown Apps and make sure Downloader is toggled ON. Then try again.
I can't find Developer Options in my settings.
Open Settings → My Fire TV → About, highlight your device name, and press OK seven times in a row. Developer Options will appear one level up, under My Fire TV.
The Fire TV Stick 4K Select doesn't work — Downloader can't install APKs.
That device runs Vega OS, which is not Android-based and does not support sideloading. You cannot use the Downloader method on it. Consider using a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (Fire OS), an Android TV box, or a BuzzTV device instead.
Channels don't load or the TV guide is empty.
Double-check that your Server URL, Username, and Password match exactly what is shown in your client portal dashboard — letters are case-sensitive. Remove the playlist and add it again. The TV guide downloads in the background and can take a few minutes the first time.
Playback buffers or stutters.
A Fire TV Stick Lite or first-generation Fire TV Stick can struggle with 4K streams. For the smoothest experience we recommend a Fire TV Stick 4K Max, a recent Android TV box, or a BuzzTV device. See the Streaming Devices page for our tested picks.
Does the Downloader method need to be repeated for updates?
Yes — sideloaded apps do not auto-update through the Amazon Appstore. When a new version is released, re-run the same Downloader code to fetch the latest APK and install it over the top.
